Study finds link between microaggressions, mental health in Asian American women

A recent UCLA study linked gendered racial microaggressions to an increased risk of suicidal ideation for Asian American women, especially those experiencing internalized racism. The study, published in April, surveyed 309 Asian American women on their experiences with gendered racial microaggressions, internalized racism and suicidal ideation. Read more...

Chinese Culture Night aims to rejuvenate students with celebration of art and culture

Chinese Culture Night is reigniting Royce Hall. On Sunday, the UCLA Chinese Students and Scholars Association will host its annual Chinese Culture Night. The event consists of a pre-show art exhibition beginning at 2 p.m., with interactive activities such as calligraphy and 12 performances from different organizations – including UCLA-affiliated and independent groups – beginning at 7:30 p.m. Read more...

LA Day of Remembrance observes anniversary of incarceration of Japanese Americans

Indian Student Union to bring Garba night to Wilson Plaza for fall celebrations

Garba night is brightening up Westwood to celebrate Diwali and Navratri. In partnership with other South Asian clubs on campus, the UCLA Indian Student Union is hosting Garba night on Friday at Wilson Plaza to celebrate Indian culture during the time of Diwali, the festival of lights, and Navratri, a nine-day celebration for nine goddesses, which are forms of Goddess Durga.
