Candidate for Internal Vice President
Internal vice presidential candidate Milly Diaz describes
herself as amiable, and she wants the council to reflect her
sentiment.
"It’s very important that council be approachable and accessible
to students," said Diaz, a United Students member.
Her most important goal is to involve both the first-year and
transfer students into UCLA activities. She would like to set up a
mentorship program, where older students could serve as guides for
freshmen.
"Although some groups have mentorship programs, this one would
be open to all students here at UCLA," Diaz said.
If elected, she also plans to play a proactive role with the
different student organizations. She would like to streamline the
council’s funding process, so as to avoid excessive paperwork and
make it easier for groups to get funds.
"The internal vice president’s office needs to bring all UCLA
students together," Diaz said. "Student government should serve as
a voice for all students."
A member of Alpha Delta Phi sorority, Diaz was also a Bruin
Belle and currently serves on the Panhellenic Executive Board. She
also worked in the internal vice president’s office last year.
"I respect what the council has done this year, but it is
important to remember that student government should represent all
students  not just a select number of groups," Diaz said.
