Theft

Hedrick Hall was the site of a backpack theft Feb. 21. Sometime
between 8:30 and 9 a.m., a thief stole some books from a backpack
that was left at at the Hedrick Cafeteria’s cubby holes.

At the Center for Health Sciences, a CD- ROM, burner and blood
pressure cuff were stolen sometime between Feb. 8-18. The items,
valued at $1,100, were stolen from Room AR-264.

A watch was stolen from the kitchen of an apartment at 403
Landfair sometime between midnight Feb. 18 and 7 a.m. the next day.
According to police reports, the thief entered Apartment 405, took
a $140 watch and left without taking anything else. There were no
signs of forced entry, police reported.

UCLA Facilities Management reported the theft of a milling
machine that happened sometime between Feb. 8-23. The $3,000
machine was taken from the UCLA Storage Facility in Culver
City.

Tools from a white ’94 Dodge Ram belonging to Facilities
Management were stolen while the truck was parked in North Campus
sometime between 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 and 1 p.m. Feb. 20. The tools
were valued at $250.

On Feb. 22, a thief made off with a laptop computer from Room
631 of Dykstra Hall. The computer, valued at $1,000, was lifted
from the dorm room sometime between 4 and 4:20 p.m.

Over at Sunset Village, the passenger-side window of a black ’93
Mitsubishi Eclipse was smashed when thieves stole a CD player, some
CDs and a purse from the car. The $1,220 theft happened sometime
between 11p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday, police reported.

Grand Theft

On Sunday, a Bruin was arrested for allegedly trying to walk out
of the student store with a $3,300 laptop computer.

According to police reports, around 4 p.m. the student unpacked
the Hewlett-Packard computer from its box and then stuffed it into
his bag.

When the student tried to walk off with the allegedly pilfered
hardware, store security stopped him and held him until police
came. The student was arrested on charges of grand theft.
