Headline misleading I was quite displeased when I opened the
August 18-24 Daily Bruin to find a headline and cartoon associated
with my article that severely misrepresented what I wrote. The
cartoon showed a two-headed elephant whose heads appeared extremely
angry with each other, under the headline, "Big trouble in a little
tent?" This gives the impression that the article is about some
deep rift in the Republican Party. The theme of my article was
quite clearly that intra-party differences are minor and healthy,
and that the party unifies during each election to try to defeat
liberal Democrats. The contrast between what I wrote and what you
put on top of it is as stark as the contrast would be if you were
to give this letter the title "Pleased as punch." You should be
careful not to let such misrepresentations occur,or you’ll find
that writers will be reluctant to write for you twice. MacLane Key
