Letters to the editor

Bruin isn’t consistent

The Bruin is hypocritical. First, in a full editorial, it
denounced the Undergraduate Students Association Council for
raising their stipends by a measly $100. But then, it gave a
thumbs-up to Congress for raising representatives’ already
$130,000-plus salaries by $3,000. Who deserves a raise more –
starving students or politicians?

Next, The Bruin gave two thumbs up to the student technology
fee. No problem, you say? But last year, the paper criticized
student government for imposing an ASUCLA fee without putting it
before the students for a vote. And The Bruin recently endorsed the
Higher Education Partnership Act, which explicitly (as noted in The
Bruin’s editorial) prohibits campus-based fees such as the
technology fee.

In addition to researching the issues, maybe you should also
review your track record.
