Crime Watch

Petty theft was the popular crime of the week, as 23 separate
reports of petty theft were turned in to university police.

The barbeque grill from the Rieber patio, valued at $60, was
stolen.

Backpacks and book bags at the Covel Commons Cafeteria were also
popular among criminals this week, with $500 worth stolen from in
front of the cafeteria this week.

A cellular phone was taken from a car parked at the Center for
Health Sciences.

A personal organizer was stolen from the Medical Center.

Parking permits were also popular, with reports of stolen
parking permits coming from Lot 8 and the Sunset Village Parking
Structure.

Five reports of grand theft were made to the university police,
with the majority of thefts coming from computer thefts. $8,000 in
computer thefts were reported over the weekend. One computer, worth
$2,000, was stolen from an apartment on Gayley, and another
computer was stolen from the Doris Stein Eye Center.

The Men’s Gym was a popular spot for grand theft, where a laptop
worth $3,000 was stolen. A 21-speed GT Terra bicycle worth $700 was
also taken.

Eleven reports of lost or stolen cars were made this week along
with three reports of grand theft auto. Two of the reports of grand
theft auto came from the apartments, one from the 600 block of
Levering and the other from the 500 block of Gayley.

Three reports of robbery were also made to the university
police.
