CUMPUS: UCLA Police Department conducts investigation of
attempted rapes

Crime Occurrences: Police have had twice two incidents of hot
prowl attempted rapes during the past week. On both occasions,
victims have been awakened by the suspect who has entered the
residence from an unlocked door. Both victims fought with the
suspect who fled. The case is still under investigation.
Dates: February 18 and 23, 1999
Times: Late nights and early mornings
Location: Westside (Midvale and Strathmore area)
Suspect(s) Information: 1 male White or Asian with a slight
build. No composite is available at this time.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Keep doors and windows locked at all times.
Have your keys ready and enter the house as quickly as possible
when returning home.
Put curtains or blinds on all windows and keep them closed at
night.
If door keys have been lost, change locks or re-key
immediately.
Do not hide door keys outside your home and so not loan house
keys to anyone other than family members or trusted friends.
If you hear a prowler inside your house, get out of the house,
if possible, through a back door or window. Avoid any confrontation
with the prowler.
