Petty theft Five parking permits and $1,625 in
wallets were stolen last week. A $79 pair of shoes was stolen from
a white 1997 Pontiac Firebird parked in Lot J on Thursday. That
same day, $130 in DVDs and tapes were stolen from the John Wooden
Center. A $250 Palm Pilot was stolen from the Botany building
between Wednesday and Thursday.
Grand theft Four vehicles were stolen last
week, including a silver 1992 Lincoln Towncar, two 1989 Mazdas and
a white Dodge Caravan belonging to the university. Another
university-owned electric cart was stolen from Pauley Pavilion but
was later located near Sproul Hall. A laptop computer and other
items were stolen from Perloff Hall Friday. The total loss was
$1,500. Gardening tools worth a total of $1,750 were stolen from a
red 1977 Ford Ranger in Lot 8 on Wednesday.
Miscellaneous The man reported in last
week’s Crimewatch as having slashed another person with a
one-and-a-half-inch razor blade near the De Neve Housing Plaza on
April 20 turned himself in to university police Thursday. Bail was
set at $20,000. Someone threw a lifeguard stand, lane line fence
and trash cans into the Sunset Canyon Recreation Center swimming
pools between Saturday and Sunday. Someone sprayed bleach on the
walls, door and carpet of a room on the fourth floor of Hedrick
Hall between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. Several people were
hitting beer cans with a golf club off the roof of a building on
the 400 block of Gayley Avenue 6 p.m. Saturday. A man punched and
kneed another person in the face on the 400 block of Landfair
Avenue early Wednesday morning. That same day, a bullet was found
at the Seeds University Elementary School carpool benches. A man
reportedly stared at another person on the third floor of the Young
Research Library around 4:30 p.m. on April 25 by holding up a ruler
with a mirror attached to the end to catch the victim’s
reflection.
Emergency Medical Technicians Someone fell down
a flight of stairs that span more than 15 feet at Powell Library
near midnight Saturday. He was admitted into the emergency room by
EMTs with various lacerations on his face. Compiled from UCPD media
