W. Field Hockey to face Gauchos in
Championship
The UCLA women’s field hockey team looks to cap off a
successful season as they battle UC Santa Barbara for the Spring
League Championship this Saturday at Moor Park College at 11
a.m.
The Bruins have dominated the spring portion of their season,
beating Pepperdine, Pomona, Moor Park and the Gauchos ““ who
they face this weekend.
The spring season, which is played on Astroturf, is considered a
warmup for the more important fall league. The Bruins have already
proven themselves as a major force in both leagues after starting
their team only two years ago.
Even though field hockey is generally considered to be an East
Coast sport, strong competition has surfaced in the last few years
in teams such as Stanford and Cal in the north and UCLA and Cal
Poly in the south.
For more information on the team and for directions to
Saturday’s championship game, visit the UCLA field hockey Web
site at www.studentgroups.ucla.edu/fieldhockey.
