Zivich earns National Player of Year honors

UCLA sophomore Elaine Zivich was named the Women’s Water
Polo National Player of the Year, the American Water Polo Coaches
Association announced Wednesday. Zivich earned first-team
All-American accolades for the second-straight year. The sophomore
attacker, who was named MVP of the Collegiate Nationals while
leading UCLA to the national title, was the Bruins’
second-leading scorer on the year with 54 goals. Five other Bruins
received All-American honors. Senior captain and U.S. National Team
member Catharine von Schwarz was named to the first team, sophomore
Kelly Heuchan and freshman Jessica Lopez were named to the second
team, freshman goalie Jamie Hipp was named to the third team, and
senior Erin Golaboski was earned honorable mention.
