CRIME WATCH 1 Vehicle stolen $7,500 Grand Theft

Petty theft

Four parking permits, a cellular phone and several wallets or
backpacks were reported stolen to police last week, incurring a
total loss of $2,224.

Three bicycles were reported stolen this past period, including
a men’s 21-speed bike and a woman’s 18-speed bike
outside the Men’s Gym and Brain Research Institute,
respectively. The total loss was $720.

Two cars were broken into at the Sproul Hall parking lot Sunday.
In the first instance, the culprit took off with a stereo and some
CDs worth a total of $300 from a silver 1996 Honda Accord. Also,
someone stole speakers from a white 1989 Ford Bronco. The amount of
loss is unknown.

Someone stole four picture frames, worth a total of $80, from
the UCLA Thrift Store on the 11000 block of Massachusetts Avenue on
Saturday.

Someone broke into a car parked on the 3000 block of Sepulveda
Boulevard and stole a $350 stereo Thursday.

Someone climbed through a window and stole a stereo and some CDs
from a room in Saxon Suites on Thursday. The loss was $300.

Someone stole a $60 pair of shoes from a women’s locker
room in the Center for Health Sciences on Oct. 17.

Grand theft

Someone reported a lost or stolen burgundy 1979 Chevy Caprice to
police Friday.

Police received a report Friday that someone had broken into a
blue 1983 Toyota in Lot 11. The culprit stole a $580 stereo.

A $2,000 video camera was stolen from Dickson Hall on
Thursday.

Someone broke into a dark green 1997 Toyota Corolla parked on
the 3000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard between Oct. 17 and 18 and
stole a CD player and some CDs worth a total of $920.

A $4,000 laptop computer was stolen from The Anderson School on
Oct. 17.

Miscellaneous

Three misdemeanor hit-and-runs were reported to police last
week.

A man with what appeared to be a telescope was reportedly
loitering around Hilgard Avenue around 11:15 p.m. Thursday.

Police received a secondhand report of a man sleeping in an
elevator in the Center for Health Sciences on Thursday.
