UCLA men’s soccer players earn all-conference
honors,
Nine UCLA men’s soccer players were recognized by the
Pac-10 conference for their play in the 2000 season.
Freshman midfielder/defender Alex Yi was honored as the Pac-10
Freshman of the Year. Yi, who is one of three Bruins to start all
17 games this season, was named to the all-conference second team.
Freshmen goalkeeper DJ Countess , also made the second team.
The first-team included three Bruin seniors: defender Ryan Lee,
midfielder Shaun Tsakiris and forward McKinley Tennyson, Jr.
Bruins receiving honorable mention were freshmen defender Nelson
Akwari and midfielder Adolfo Gregorio, sophomore defender Scot
Thompson, and senior midfielder Caleb Westbay.
Stanford midfielder Ryan Nelsen was chosen as the Player of the
Year while Cardinal head coach Bobby Clark was named the Coach of
the Year.
