CRIME WATCH   1 Vehicle stolen $6,100
Grand theft $1,461 Petty theft

Petty theft Five cellular phones, six parking
permits, one wallet and one backpack and its contents were stolen
during this period, worth a total of $986. Someone stole a $275 car
stereo Thursday morning from a car parked on Westwood Boulevard.
Someone stole a $200 bicycle from the bike racks outside Hedrick
Hall on Thursday afternoon.

Grand theft Someone stole a car parked next to
the south side of Powell Library on Friday afternoon. Someone stole
a $1,200 coffeepot from the Young Hall Chemistry building Wednesday
morning. Two laptops worth a total of $4,900 were reported stolen
from a computer lab on Hilgard Avenue.

Miscellaneous Police broke up a fight outside
Maloney’s Pub on Gayley Avenue at 2 a.m. Friday. Four
participants were interviewed, and one fled the scene. Later that
day, police arrested one person for possession of marijuana. Police
removed a vagrant who refused to leave the Men’s Gym locker
room on Thursday afternoon. An hour later, two skateboarders
received warnings for interfering with traffic on Gayley. A group
of students reported seeing someone matching the description of the
sexual assault suspect at the Farmer’s Market on Thursday
afternoon. Police responded to four sightings of the attacker at
various places on campus that evening, including one sighting in a
dark area on Gayley Avenue and another in the Engineering building
seven minutes later. At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, four possible USC
students were seen asking for directions to the Bruin Bear, casing
the area and leaving after campus police drove by. Police cited a
man for disturbing the peace by blocking a parking enforcement car
with his vehicle and refusing to let the other car leave on Jan. 9.
Also, that morning, campus police found a white powdery substance
in a Schoenberg Hall classroom. The substance was booked into
evidence. Police warned a possible transient against harassing
customers at a box office on Gayley Avenue the evening of Jan.9.
That same evening, a police officer reported possible sexual
activity in a car parked in Lot 32.
