Crime Watch


Petty theft Three wallets, two backpacks, two
purses, five cellular phones and three parking permits were stolen
during this period, valued at a total of $2,648. A $150 Zip drive
was removed from the Geology Building Thursday. Someone stole
clothes and shoes, worth $72, from a locker in the Center for
Health Sciences on Monday.

Grand theft Eight stereos and two compact disc
players were stolen from nine vehicles last week, worth a total of
$7,180. Someone stole a credit card and charged $1,500 to the
account. A $6,000 laptop was stolen from an apartment on Gayley
Avenue on Saturday. Someone ransacked a room and stole a watch and
various items worth a total of $1,100 from Roebling Drive on
Thursday. A $530 bicycle was stolen from the School of Public
Health and Social Research on Tuesday. Another bicycle worth $790
was stolen from Saxon Suites last week. A computer and jackets,
worth $2,700, were removed from a building on Strathmore Avenue on
Tuesday. There were no signs of forced entry. Someone stole $1,400
worth of CDs from an apartment Saturday. There were no signs of
forced entry.

Miscellaneous Police received a report Friday
that a 39-year-old man has possibly been stalking the men’s
volleyball team since the 1980s. A person matching the description
of a sexual assault suspect came out of the bushes near the
Inverted Fountain on Sunday. Someone masturbated in front of
another person on the first floor of Powell Library on Sunday.
Someone was caught pointing a video camera through a window in
Saxon Suites on Saturday. A 40-year-old man was released on $10,000
bail after passing counterfeit U.S. currency Friday. Four shots
were heard on Strathmore and Gayley Avenues on Wednesday, according
to an LAPD broadcast. Two 20-year-old men who said they were
selling magazines on Gayley Avenue were reported for being too
sexually explicit Tuesday. A man exposed himself and urinated on
the sidewalk at the Hilgard Bus Turnaround on Tuesday.
