Former student dies in plane crash

A UCLA alumna was among the victims of last Thursday’s
crash of a private jet in Aspen.

Twenty-two-year-old Marissa K. Witham, a communications studies
student who graduated last year, was killed along with 17 others
after the Gulfstream III aircraft they were on crashed while on
approach to Aspen-Pitkin County Airport.

Witham, an aspiring newscaster was a research assistant at KTTV
Fox 11 in Los Angeles.

While a student at UCLA, she was part of the Golden Key Honor
Society, a member of the Chi Omega sorority, and involved in a
number of community service-related projects, according to her
brother Jonathan.

A number of memorial services have been planned for Witham,
including one Thursday in the Bay Area and another in Los Angeles
next week.
