Trojan Horse stalled
The USC Trojans are running in place, but at least they’re
not running backward.
The Trojans (0-3 overall, 0-1 in Pac-10) amassed a solitary yard
during the first half of last week’s contest against Stanford
and only 26 yards for the entire game.
USC has rushed for 68 yards on 56 attempts over the last two
weeks.
The lack of rushing prowess does not allow USC to control the
ball late in the game, allowing comeback victories late in the
game.
“It’s shocking to me we can’t do some of the
things we’d like to do,” said USC offensive coordinator
Norm Chow, still waiting for his offense to start clicking.
“˜Poll’-ar Shift
Two Pac-10 teams exchanged positions in college football’s
Top 25 poll. Pre-season favorite Oregon State (1-3) dropped out of
the top 25 and Stanford (3-0) moved into both the ESPN/USA Today
and AP polls at 24 and 22 respectively.
Harrington fights back
Joey Heisman is mad as hell, and he’s not going to take it
anymore.
In Monday’s installment of his weekly diary in the
Portland Oregonian, Oregon quarterback Joey Harrington fired back
at the Utah State faithful.
The Utah State fans heckled Harrington about the large billboard
in New York City. Harrington took the unkind words personally.
“After the game and the next morning, I wondered if other
people actually do feel that way — whether they thought by me
agreeing to be on the billboard I was placing myself ahead of the
team,” Harrington said in the diary. “It was still
interesting to see and hear the opinion of people around the
country, however biased it might be.”
West Coast Bias?
The Washington Huskies are ranked No. 1 by one of the
nation’s publications: their own.
The Seattle Times’ Anderson & Hester Seattle Times
computer ranking has the Huskies as its No. 1 team. The Seattle
Times’ ranking is one of several used by the BCS to determine
the two teams that make it to the national championship game.
