Men’s Basketball Briefs

Gloger gone for good

It’s official now ““ Spencer Gloger has left
UCLA.

Really.

Gloger, a sophomore forward on the Bruins’ men’s
basketball team, has returned to Princeton, where he was an All-Ivy
League honorable mention performer as a freshman in 1999-00.

Gloger transferred to UCLA last year but could not suit up for
the Bruins due to NCAA rules. He was expected to play this
season.

Two weeks ago, UCLA announced that Gloger was moving back East
but soon after, it was rumored that he would remain a Bruin. As of
last week, UCLA players had no idea what the situation was.

But on Thursday, UCLA head coach Steve Lavin confirmed the
transfer and said he spoke to Gloger over the phone last week.

“He’s taking this year to concentrate on his
studies,” Lavin said. “He didn’t say anything in
terms of playing (for Princeton).”

According to Lavin, Gloger was considering spending a semester
abroad at sea.

If Gloger decides to play for Princeton again, he will have to
sit out another year.
