Homecoming kings

Three Bruins return home to the Bay Area this weekend when the
team heads north to take on the Stanford Cardinal. Linebacker
Marcus Reese (San Jose) and wide receivers Craig Bragg (San Jose)
and Tab Perry (Milpitas) all went to high school in the Bay Area.
For Bragg, the road trip will be the first time he gets to play in
front of his hometown crowd as a Bruin. He will have between 40 and
50 friends and family members coming to Stanford Stadium to see him
play.

Family rivalry

Perry has reserved just two tickets for his mom and dad. The
pair will have to make a difficult decision to sit in the UCLA
section. Both graduated from Stanford, but Perry believes they are
on his side for this one.

“They’ll cheer for me,” he said. “But my
sister is different story.”

Perry’s sister graduated last year from Stanford and
played in the Cardinal Marching Band. As a resident of Palo Alto,
she continues to perform at Stanford’s home games.

Television schedule

ABC will televise this weekend’s contest, the fifth time
the network has carried a UCLA game. The game was originally
scheduled for 4 p.m., but was switched to 12:30 p.m. to accommodate
the station.

Next Saturday’s Washington State game time has finally
been announced. Fox Sports will broadcast the game 3:30 p.m.

Mighty Mouse vs. Manute

One key matchup to keep an eye on this weekend is UCLA
cornerback Ricky Manning Jr. versus Stanford wide receiver Teyo
Johnson. Johnson is 6-foot-7 and also plays forward on the Cardinal
basketball team. Manning is just 5-9, and though he could have
problems with Johnson’s height, he is not worried.

“He’s measured by his height, and I’m measured
by my heart,” Manning said.

Injury update

Cornerback Matt will play against Stanford. Shane Lehman was
hurt earlier in the week also but will not start. Wideout Brian
Poli-Dixon will not play.
