Music Tool is playing tonight at the Verizon
Wireless Amphitheatre (the venue formerly known as Irvine Meadows)
with Tricky. There are few bands worth driving over an hour for,
and Tool is one of them. Stephanie St. John will be performing at
the Roxy Theatre on Sunset Boulevard tonight. BRMC (Black Rebel
Motorcycle Club) are at the Vinyl tonight. There is currently a lot
of buzz surrounding this band. Over at that other school in Los
Angeles, B-Side Players are performing at Hahn Plaza today. Modern
rockers Fuel and Saliva will share the bill at the House of Blues
in Hollywood on Nov. 3 and 4. Queensryche (remember them?) will be
at the Wiltern Theatre on Monday, Nov. 5. The Mayan Theatre will
have the Beta Band on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Lee “Scratch”
Perry will be at the El Rey on Thursday, Nov. 8.
Theater A few months after a devastating attack
on America, the country finds a hero in one of their athletes.
“Joe Louis Blues,” which takes place not long after
Pearl Harbor, tells the story of the famous boxer Joe Louis. The
play opens Saturday at the Tiffany Theater at 8532 Sunset Blvd. in

Film Jet Li stars as a man who must fight off his
alter egos from other dimensions in order to become “The
One.” The movie opens everywhere this Friday. Also,
“Monsters, Inc.” comes out from under the bed to
frighten audiences everywhere. It is Disney and Pixar’s most
recent collaboration since the incredibly successful “Toy
Story” and “Toy Story 2.” The Coen Brothers
project “The Man Who Wasn’t There” with Billy Bob
Thornton and Frances McDormand came to theaters on Wednesday. The
film, set in the 1940s and filmed in black and white, is about a
barber who attempts to blackmail the man having an affair with his
wife. In “Life as a House,” Kevin Kline plays a dying
man who aims to build the perfect home before his death.
