UCLA eighth at Prestige Tourney
The UCLA men’s golf team finished eighth with an overall
score of 861 at the Prestige Tournament, co-hosted by UC Davis and
Stanford in Palm Desert. The second and third rounds concluded
Tuesday.
“I was expecting to do a bit better,” UCLA head
coach Brad Sherfy said. “We’re not trying to finish in
middle of pack ““ we’re trying to win events.”
Washington took home the win, while Kansas and Colorado tied for
second. Davis took fifth while Stanford finished 11th. Sophomore
John Merrick was UCLA’s top finisher, shooting a 208 earning
him a tie for fourth place.
“This is what we’re used to seeing from him,”
Sherfy said. “He’s a very strong player, and we need to
get more performances like that all around.” Senior Parker
McLachlin was the next Bruin finisher, tying for 23rd with a 215.
Junior Sang-Eun Ji was the only other Bruin to crack the top 50,
