Bruins look to ‘SC after Oregon
losses
The UCLA ice hockey team came back from Oregon already looking
ahead to its two upcoming contests against USC.
A pair of losses to the Ducks has the Bruins (2-8, 1-5 Pac-8) in
search of a win for the first time since Oct. 20 against Cal
““ a stretch of five games.
Friday’s game was tightly contested, as the Ducks led 4-1
late into the third period before scoring two more on Bruin
goaltender Matt Hsu to make the score 6-1.
Saturday’s game had UCLA applying pressure on the Oregon
end of the ice, but two late first period goals made the score 5-1.
Bruin netminder Matt Miller went on to allow three more goals
before being pulled from the 10-1 loss.
UCLA had 18 players on the trip to Oregon, enough for only three
lines. Defenseman Mike Mount was injured during Friday’s
game, leaving the blueline with only three skaters.
“It will be helpful to have all four lines this
weekend,” Hsu said. “It will be good to have some
depth.”
The Bruins must now concentrate on avenging a 9-2 loss to the
Trojans less than two weeks ago. The first game will be on Thursday
at the Disney Ice Arena in Anaheim, while UCLA will host
Friday’s game against the Trojans at the Healthsouth Training
Center.
