Liberals lack moral integrity, understanding of Christianity

Homosexuality, welfare don't mesh with teachings of Jesus Christ

Cody Cass’ submission “Conservative
leaders misappropriate Christian values
,” (Daily Bruin,
Viewpoint, Nov. 16) was a shameless attempt by a leftist to hijack
the Christian religion as a tool for a diabolical political
mal-agenda. Every point Cass made revealed his basic
misunderstanding of Christ, the deity and the basic beliefs behind
modern conservatism.

The left consistently fails to demonstrate any semblance of
moral integrity, yet Cass gropes ineffectually to indict the
conservative right as equally immoral by resorting to religious
revisionism akin to that of the pharisees. I got the impression
that Cass has never even actually studied the Bible (without
twisting it to fit his preconceived ideas) because if he did, he
would know, without a doubt, that the ideals he stands for are not
Christian.

Christ never, ever made excuses for a sin. Homosexuality ““
and all fornication ““ is a sin. Christ specifically ordered
that a man is to find a wife ““ not a husband. If Cass chooses
to believe that homosexuals have no control over their sexual
orientation, then fine. But I don’t know where he gets off
trying to pervert Christianity to fit his beliefs. Instead, he
should try changing his thoughts to conform with Christ’s
like Christ said we should.

Perhaps we should go back to the authority ““ the Word
““ to get answers to the welfare problem as well. Not only
does Cass contradict himself and lack common sense, he again shows
off his lack of understanding about who Christ is. When Jesus
approached the indigent by the pool, the first thing he asked was
“Do you want to be healed?” inquiring of the
man’s own desire to receive the gift of healing.
Conservatives know that permissive welfare policy encourages sloth
and dejection because it does not require that a person demonstrate
a sincere desire to be self-sufficient.

The result is generational welfare families without a sense of
duty or decency.

In Los Angeles, until a Republican was put into the
mayor’s office, welfare rolls kept expanding and crime was
astronomical. Did things change because the city took a leftist
approach and made it easier to stay on welfare and harder to start
a business? Of course not; that doesn’t make sense. But logic
is not part of the leftist recipe for a better nation.

Now since the left has exhausted all other avenues to attack
traditional notions of morality and to further it’s shiftless
political agenda, we see some liberals trying to revise the whole
Christian religion to fit their needs.

For instance: Cass says that Christ stood for acceptance and
altruism, but he is wrong. Christ stood for truth and power ““
both of which are absent when we believe that welfare is a right
instead of a privilege, and that homosexuality is okay when it is
obviously not.

How many people have to die in welfare projects or of AIDS for
these leftists to accept the truth?
