UCLA to play Alumni Saturday

The UCLA baseball team version 2002 will face off against their
Bruin past in the UCLA Alumni on Saturday at Jackie Robinson
Stadium.

The Alumni Game will feature a 2002 pitching trio of Nick Lyon,
Doug Silva, and Kyle Wilson. The UCLA pitchers will have the chance
to face off against some major league caliber players. The
exhibition will be the first glimpse of the new squad for the Bruin
faithful.

The 2 p.m. contest will be prefaced by a four-inning Old
Timers’ game that will be played between former Bruins over
the age of 30. There will also be a home run contest between past
and present Bruin players.

Philadelphia Phillie Eric Valent out-hacked 2000 American League
home run champion Troy Glaus in last year’s home run
contest.

Glaus will again be on hand for this year’s festivities,
as well as more recent Bruin graduates like 2001 All-American Brian
Baron and and 2000 All-American Bill Scott.

The Bruins will also induct five former Bruins into the UCLA
baseball hall of fame in a short ceremony between the Old Timers
and the Alumni game.

Saturday’s events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with batting
practice, followed by the home run contest at 11:30 a.m. which will
begin the formal festivities.
