Paus returns for all-star game

After breaking his ankle against Cal midway through his senior
season, UCLA quarterback Cory Paus will return to action in the
Paradise All-Star Game in Utah on Jan. 25. Other Bruins playing in
that all-star game include defensive end Rusty Williams and
cornerback Joe Hunter.

A plethora of other UCLA players find themselves in many other
all-star games.

This Saturday, cornerbacks Ricky Manning Jr., punter/place
kicker Nate Fikse, and offensive tackle Mike Saffer will play in
the East-West Shrine Game in San Francisco. Manning will also play
in the Feb. 1 Hula Bowl in Maui alongside linebacker Marcus
Reese.

Finally, tight end Mike Seidman will play in the Senior Bowl in
Mobile, Ala., Jan. 18, while offensive tackle Bryce Bohlander will
play for the Florida All-Stars in the Rotary Gridiron Classic in
Orlando, Fla., Jan. 25.

Jagoda out for season opener

Junior opposite hitter Marcin Jagoda sprained his ankle in
practice Tuesday and will miss what was supposed to be his first
career start against USC on Friday at the UC Santa Barbara
tournament. He is expected to miss a week of action.

Sophomore Allan Vince, who started for most of the preseason but
lost out to Jagoda after injuring his elbow, will start at
opposite. The 6-foot-7-inch Vince is a newcomer to the team after
transferring from Golden West College.

Also on the mend is junior Jesse Debban, a backup outside hitter
who injured his knee and will be out for this weekend’s
tournament.
