U.S. support of Palestinian state hypocritical, foolish

The most controversial issue these days is whether or not we
should go to war with Iraq. Supporters of the war claim Saddam
Hussein is a dangerous man who can produce powerful weapons that
would be used in the future against America and its allies. Thus,
they claim he must be stopped.

Opponents of the war find it ironic that we are now trying to
remove the same brutal and dangerous regime that we have actually
been supporting for so many years. It seems both sides agree,
however, that the United States made a mistake by strengthening and
supporting this suppressive Iraqi regime. Therefore, we can
conclude and agree that at least from now on we should not support
rogue states that produce weapons of mass destruction in any way.
So nobody would actually imagine supporting establishment of a new,
rogue, suppressive state that would jeopardize the United States
and its allies. Nevertheless, by declaring its support for the
founding of a Palestinian state, this is precisely the U.S.’
policy.

If there is one thing we learned about states that sponsor
terror and try to acquire weapons of mass destruction, it is that
these same regimes also oppress their own people. Indeed, this has
been the policy of the Palestinian Authority ““ the regime
that is supposed to rule the new, would-be Palestine. As soon as
Arafat came to rule the Gaza Strip in 1994, he made sure any
newspapers that spoke against him were shut down. Nadav Haetzni
also writes of how Ahmad Sabah, a youngster from Jenin, was
severely beaten by the fledgling administration of the Palestinian
Authority for opposing the organization.

President Bush constantly reminds us said that every nation that
supports terror will be dealt with. Then why does he keep on
reiterating the notion of a Palestinian state? There have probably
been more Palestinian suicide terrorists than from any nation. The
Palestinian Authority is not even a state yet and it already
produces terrorist organizations such as the Hamas, Jihad, Tanzim
and al-Aqsa Brigades. Last week’s terror attack in Tel Aviv,
which killed at least 22 people, proves a Palestinian state would
be dangerous. Does Bush really want to endanger his ally Israel by
supporting this rogue Palestinian state?

The hearts of a whole generation of Palestinian children have
already been filled with hate toward Jews and Americans. As a
Palestinian girl sings on television: “When I wander into the
entrance of Jerusalem, I’ll turn into a suicide warrior in a
battledress.” The Palestinian media has also been filled with
anti-Semitic propaganda. Indeed, in Al-Hayat Al Jadidah, a cartoon,
depicts Jews as worms destroying peace and as lice on an
Arab’s head.

The Palestinian refugees scattered throughout Syria, Egypt,
Libya, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq should be settled there and become
full citizens of those countries. Just as Israel was compelled to
absorb millions of Jews ethnically-cleansed from their Arab
countries. After all, it is those Arab countries’ fault for
producing the refugee problems in 1948 when they called the
Palestinians to leave their homes and initiated a war on Israel
hoping to destroy the Jewish state. The so-called “right of
return,” whether it is to Israel or the new Palestine, is
impossible and would only produce more terror.

As for the Palestinians residing in Judea and Samaria (aka the
West Bank) and the Gaza Strip, there should be a different solution
for them; one that would be fair for everyone, but not a
Palestinian state. With terrorism being the most dangerous threat
in the world, the last thing we need is a Palestinian state that
would promote exactly that.
