The Altoids men’s intramural basketball team improved its
record to 2-1 Wednesday evening. To some spectators’ dismay,
the IM team received a forfeit. The Altoids, who won the Winter
A-League title, have received both respect on the court and
extensive media coverage in the Daily Bruin.
The Altoids’ scheduled opponents, The Pantheons, assumed
that the tip-off was at 7:15 p.m. ““ instead of the actual
7:00 p.m. start time ““ and showed up after the five-minute
waiting period.
The Altoids’ victory secures a bid to the A-League
Playoffs for the defending champions.
The night, however, was not a waste for the team. The Altoids
organized a pick-up game with the few Pantheon players who did show
up for the game. The split-squad scrimmage pitted Yussuf Haid, Ben
Lev, Asion Jackson and Eric Flegal against teammates Aaron Moore,
Shea Anderson along with assorted Pantheons.
Lev and Jackson painted the three-point line and clearly
dominated the abbreviated scrimmage.
The Altoids vie for a favorable playoff seeding next Wednesday
at Pauley Pavilion.
