WASHINGTON 3, SOUTH CAROLINA 0 ““ The No.
22 Washington men’s soccer team remained undefeated on the
season (6-0-1) after upsetting No. 7 South Carolina (7-2-0) on
Sunday at the Husky Classic. Washington took a one-goal lead in the
25th minute on a Leo Totev strike. The Huskies
added two more goals in the second half, one by Casey
Armstrong, as well as Totev’s second.
CAL 2, FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON 0 ““
Cal’s men’s soccer team snapped No. 24
Fairleigh Dickinson’s (4-2-1) three-match
winning streak at the Stanford Nike Tournament on Sunday. Cal
(4-4-1) took a lead in the game’s 10th minute and added to it
with a Noah Merl penalty shot in the 42nd minute.
The Bears outshot Fairleigh Dickinson 15-10.
FRESNO STATE 3, SAN FRANCISCO 2 ““ Fresno
State (3-5) scored two goals in the last 30 minutes of the game to
beat USF. Bulldog Chris Murphy scored a goal in
the 16th minute to give Fresno State a 1-0 lead, but Don goals by
Erik Ortiz and Mike Varas gave
San Francisco the lead. Murphy scored again in the 65th minute and
Mat Harold scored the game winner for the Bulldogs
in the 75th minute.
STANFORD 4, UC IRVINE 1““ Even though all
four teams at the Stanford Nike Tournament finished 1-1-1, Stanford
won the title because it scored the most goals with five. With
Sunday’s win, Stanford improved to 2-5-1. Irvine got the
early lead when David Yemane scored in the 32nd
minute. Stanford quickly responded in the 34th minute with a goal
by Chad Marshall. Abe Geiger
added a goal in the 57th minute and Matt Janusz
scored two goals to round out the scoring.
