Speaks out

Do you feel that UCLA provides enough guidance for students when
they choose classes and majors? Ashley Spurzem Second-year,
biology
I speak with my friends about what they’re
taking and what they’ve taken and look on Bruin Walk at the
professor site and kind of go from there. Thanh Nguyen
Third-year, psychology and Asian American studies
I have
enough guidance. I don’t have a problem with choosing classes
and stuff. I go through the Web site, I go through the department
counselor, I go through the L&S counselor, and I also go
through the peer counselor. Rafi Moghadam Fifth-year,
mathematics and economics
It’s in the nature of the
university to give you the independence to be your own guide. This
isn’t high school. It’s not elementary school.
You’re on your own here. Whether in class or out of class,
you’re on your own, so I don’t think there’s much
help the university could do.
