Ball, Bragg named UCLA football MVPs

Senior defensive end Dave Ball and junior wide
receiver Craig Bragg received UCLA’s Most
Valuable Player awards, announced Tuesday at the 85th Annual UCLA
Football Awards Banquet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Ball, also an
All-American, leads the nation in sacks with 16.5, while Bragg
compiled 994 yards on 68 receptions during the regular season. He
scored four touchdowns. In other team awards, running back
Derrick Williams and defensive back Trey
Brown
were named the Bruins’ Outstanding Scout Team
Players. Linebacker Brandon Chillar was named the
team’s Outstanding Senior.

MEN’S GOLF: Travis Johnson and
Steve Conway posted strong finishes at the 29th
Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic at the El
Paso Country Club on Tuesday. Johnson finished tied for third place
at seven-under par 206. Conway tied for 17th with a one-under par
212. Arizona’s Chris Nallen won the
tournament with a 17-under par 196.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: Three Bruins earned
First Team All Pac-10 honors, announced Tuesday. Heather
Cullen, Brynn Murphy
and Chrissie Zartman
represent UCLA on the first team. Krystal
McFarland
and Brittany Ringel were named
to the Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 team.
