Last Year: Taco Bell; This Year: Jose Bernstein’s

Sure, the talking chihuahua was cute, but Taco Bell not paying
its tomato growers living wages hasn’t sat well with the UCLA
community. Now the fast food chain is just a board decision away
from getting kicked off campus entirely. We will all
probably miss the seven-layer burrito, but few will be all that sad
to see the eatery make its exit. Really, eating on campus in
general is just so 2003. It’s time we all started taking a
little extra time for lunch and stop in at one of
Westwood’s many great restaurants, like Jose
Bernstein’s.

Is he Mexican? Is he Jewish? He may be both, but who knows! What
we do know is Bernstein (whose restaurant is on Broxton Avenue,
right across from Diddy Riese Cookies) makes very decent food
at college student prices. We also know he delivers (so you can
still eat on campus if you must) and he’s open late. His
Spicy Galbi Kimchi Burrito may be one of the best cheap
eats in Westwood. Bernstein, you are truly a paragon of
pseudo-Mexican eateries.
