Chance of rain bumps up women's tennis Pepperdine match

The No. 8 UCLA women’s tennis team (5-3) hits the road
today to face Pepperdine (5-1) at 1:30. The Bruins defeated the
Waves three times last season, and they hold a 37-12 advantage in
the all-time series. The match, which had originally been scheduled
for Wednesday, was moved up a day because of the chance of
rain.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: UCLA freshman
Noelle Quinn was named Pac-10 Player of the Week
for the second straight week, conference commissioner Tom
Hansen
announced Monday. Quinn recorded her first career
triple-double in the Bruins’ 97-69 victory over California on
Feb. 19, tallying 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. In the
Bruins’ loss to No. 10 Stanford on Feb. 21, Quinn scored a
game-high 17 points and added 12 rebounds.

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Oregon State forward
David Lucas was named Pac-10 Player of the Week
for the week of Feb. 16-22. In the Beavers’ 68-61 victory
over Arizona State, Lucas scored 20 points and pulled down 12
rebounds. Two days later, he paced Oregon State with 22 points,
nine rebounds, and three steals in the team’s upset win over
No. 14 Arizona. ALUMNI: UCLA graduate
Rondre Jackson was named as the assistant general
manager of the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, team president
Johnny Buss announced Monday. Jackson received his
bachelor’s degree in history and political science from UCLA
in 1996. Jackson has served on the Sparks’ coaching staff for
the last three seasons. Now that he is moving to the front office,
he will be expected to assist general manager Penny Toler in the
day-to-day operations of team personnel.
