Backlash against right unacceptable

Walking back from the library tonight, I noticed that a sign for
a Bruin Republicans meeting had been vandalized. Someone had
written the word “kill” in marker in front of the name
of the group.

It strongly offended and disappointed me, but did not surprise
me. I’ve seen quite a unidirectional backlash against
conservatives here on campus.

It’s incredibly sad to see people suppressing differing
views while claiming to be liberal.

UCLA lacks balance and diversity

I realize many of us are young and full of ideological hope. A
lot of us believe in ideas such as “social justice,”
income redistribution and that Michael Moore speaks truth.

But in a deeply divided country where President Bush won the
popular vote by more than 3 million votes, where is the division on
our campus?

Eighty-three percent of UCLA voted for Sen. John Kerry.

Sounds like a pre-Iraq War Saddam Hussein election outcome.
Where’s the balance? Where’s the ideological diversity?
It’s a shame that our campus is so non-representative of our
society.
