TenPercent must rethink meaning of
“˜inclusive’
I would like to congratulate the editorship of the 25th
anniversary edition of UCLA’s TenPercent newsmagazine.
The goal was accomplished of creating the most
“diverse” issue to date, completely eradicating any
trace of the gay white male.
It’s an oxymoron to call the gay white males the
“normative queer,” but nonetheless TenPercent was
redirected in such a way that all but the “most
radical” and “most oppressed” find themselves
completely obliterated from the print after 25 years.
Why such an exclusive, alienating tactic for such a supposedly
“inclusive” magazine?
