Two doctors resign from King/Drew Medical

Two doctors mentioned in a series of newspaper articles
detailing problems at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center
have left the hospital.
George E. Locke, who was chairman of the neurosciences
department, retired Feb. 18.
Orthopedic surgeon James K. Brannon resigned Monday.
Locke and Brannon were mentioned in a December series of Los
Angeles Times articles that detailed mismanagement at the Los
Angeles County public hospital, which lost its national
accreditation last month because of problems with patient care.
Governor speaks out against junk food
COLUMBUS, Ohio “”mdash; Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Sunday he
wants to ban all sales of junk food in California schools and
legislation was being introduced to accomplish the goal.
Vending machines in schools should be filled with fresh fruits,
vegetables and milk, Schwarzenegger said during a
question-and-answer session with fans on the final day of his
Arnold Classic bodybuilding weekend. Schwarzenegger’s
comments came in response to a questioner who asked what could be
done to combat youth obesity.
