The top-ranked UCLA women’s water polo team made quick
work of its opponents in San Diego this weekend. Playing three
games in two days, the Bruins (19-0, 5-0 MPSF) continued their
unbeaten streak, dismantling UC San Diego, 10-3, on Friday, and San
Diego State, 12-3, and Princeton, 17-5, on Saturday.
In all three games, the outcomes were all but decided by
halftime, as UCLA outscored its opponents 21-3. The lone team that
stayed in the match was Princeton, which was tied with the Bruins,
2-2, after the first period. However, the game was put out of reach
as the Bruins scored six consecutive goals in the second
period.
UCLA junior driver Thalia Munro led all Bruins during the
weekend with seven goals while junior center defender Kristina
Kunkel registered six.
The Bruins continued their balanced scoring as 12 different
players got in the scoring column this weekend.
