Board approves tracking satellite for
criminals

SAN BERNARDINO “”mdash; The Board of Supervisors approved
global-positioning satellite tracking of high-risk offenders on
probation.

Supervisors on Tuesday approved a contract with Sentinel
Offender Services LLC to begin tracking movements of the
area’s most dangerous criminals using GPS technology and
nonremoveable ankle bracelets.

The system alerts probation officers when the offender violates
probation terms by entering off-limit zones, including schools,
parks or other places where children congregate. The program is
funded by offenders, who will pay $9 to $15 a day. There will be no
cost to the county.

Former television host elected to city
council

Longtime cable television host Bill Rosendahl won election to
the city council, representing the West Side, and he pledged to
fight developers and fix traffic problems.

Rosendahl defeated Flora Gil Krisiloff 56.56 percent to 43.44
percent Tuesday for the District 11 seat being vacated by Cindy
Miscikowski, who could not run again because of term limits.

Krisiloff, 53, and Rosendahl, 60, campaigned more than a year to
represent an area that includes Venice, Playa del Rey, Mar Vista,
Brentwood and the Pacific Palisades.

Rosendahl, a former cable television executive, is best known
for the public affairs programs he hosted from 1987 to 2003.

His campaign stressed the environment and his opposition to
large developments without traffic fixes.
