Did you see “Star Wars” when it opened Wednesday
night? Do you think people overreact to this type of movie, or were
you out there in your tent and costume waiting for a week?
Lincoln Atkinson Second-year, mathematics “I
did see it. I thought it was pretty good; it was more plot-driven
than the other two new ones. Yes, they do overreact, but it’s
fun to overreact, so people do it anyway. I didn’t have a
“˜Star Wars’ costume ““ I was in my traditional
student costume.” Rachel McCrary Fourth-year,
atmospheric sciences “No, I didn’t go. I
actually ditched my friends and did not go to “˜Star
Wars’ last night. I don’t think people overreact any
more than they overreact for anything else. I have friends who went
last night, but they did not camp out; they just bought their
tickets online about a week early, which is itself kind of
lame.” Chris Lee Fourth-year, history and
psychology “No, I didn’t see it. I don’t
think people overreact, though; I think people have a legitimate
reason to be excited about things if they want to be. Far be it for
me to judge anyone. I think they’re nerds, though.”
Greg Diaz First-year, history “I’m
seeing it today at 2 a.m. I went down there earlier, and I saw
people in the crowds who were coming down for the 12 o’clock
showing (because I went down to get my ticket at 11). It was people
full-blown, with costumes, light sabers, playing “˜Star
Wars’ music, and it was pretty crazy. I’d say they were
overreacting a little bit.”
