Bragg signs with Green Bay Packers

Sixth-round pick is expected to begin training with the team on Wednesday

The Green Bay Packers signed sixth-round pick Craig Bragg on
Friday, as Bragg is scheduled to report to training camp today and
practice as a professional for the first time Wednesday. Bragg,
UCLA’s all-time leader in career receptions with 193 for
2,845 yards (second all-time), is the sixth of the team’s 11
picks to sign. He enters training camp with his playing time up in
the air, considering that Green Bay’s top wideout Javon
Walker is currently holding out for a new contract that could open
the door for the rest of the receiving corps. Bragg also figures to
see action as a special teams player if he makes the team. The
financial terms of Bragg’s contract were not disclosed.

SWEET CAROLINA: Former UCLA safety Ben Emanuel reached an
agreement with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday. Emanuel was the
organization’s sixth-round draft choice in April’s NFL
draft. Emanuel received a three-year contract that includes the
league minimum base salary of $230,000 in 2005, $305,000 in 2006
and $385,000 in 2007. The signing bonuses were not disclosed. The
6-foot-2, 213-pound Emanuel played in 48 games for the Bruins,
starting 39 of his final 42 contests at free safety and strong
safety. He finished his career with 228 tackles and eight
interceptions. He ranked third on the team, with 76 tackles as a
senior in 2004, in addition to posting one interception.

WOMEN’S GOLF: Sydnee Michaels of Linfield Christian High
School has committed to play golf on a full scholarship at UCLA.
Michaels also considered Duke, USC, Arizona and Notre Dame. She
said she was enthusiastic about joining the Bruins.
“They’re No. 2 in the country,” Michaels told the
North County Times. “The coach is great, it’s close to
home and the weather is great. It seemed like a perfect fit.”
Michaels also knows several of the players on the Bruin team, which
may have been a factor in her decision.
