ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COMMISSIOINER: Schuster has realistic goals and the experience to back them up

With extensive experience in the Academic Affairs Commission and
the Academic Senate, fresh ideas for programming and the dedication
to tackle ambitious goals, Nat Schuster of Bruins United edged out
the competition and won the Daily Bruin Editorial Board’s
endorsement for Academic Affairs commissioner.

Schuster’s plan to create a business minor is a long-term
goal, but one that is obtainable given his work ethic and the
legwork he has already done. It’s also important to mention
that Schuster is looking at this plan realistically and understands
he would be laying down the groundwork for a project that will most
likely take longer than his term in office.

As for his programming, the ideas are both innovative and fun.
And his plans for convenient enrollment workshops on the Hill will
present assistance to freshmen and transfer students.

As a representative on the Academic Senate’s undergraduate
council, Schuster is best able to further USAC’s work on
shared governance and will be an effective advocate for
students.

While Students First! candidate Brenda Robles is qualified and
demonstrated her enthusiasm, she doesn’t bring anything new
to the commission and was less knowledgeable about the finer points
of academic policies.

Romi Mouhibian, Slate Refund’s candidate, showed a
complete ignorance and lack of knowledge about the most basic
academic issues on our campus, as well as of the duties and
programs of the Academic Affairs Commission.
