The Facilities Commission was finally brought back to life this
year, and P.C. Zai of Bruins United is the right candidate to
ensure that the traditionally under-utilized office reaches its
full potential.
Zai’s focuses include building a more student-friendly
Westwood, bringing socially conscious products to UCLA stores, and
increasing student safety both on and off campus.
She also plans to continue the work of the current commissioner,
Joe Vardner, on issues such as parking and wireless Internet.
Her background and extensive participation with student groups
as well as her involvement on the Hill as a resident assistant give
Zai a well-rounded understanding of what students need from her
office.
Her experience complements that knowledge well. Zai, who is a
general representative on this year’s council, has the USAC
savvy needed to get things done.
Zai’s opponent Dorothy Le has lofty goals that are
admirable but unlikely to pan out during her year as
commissioner.
On the other hand, Zai’s plans are accompanied by a
well-thought-out course of action that will help her see them
through.
