ASUCLA Board of Directors meeting RECAP


ASUCLA provides student services and activities that the university does not fund and oversees the Undergraduate Students Association, Graduate Students Association, Communications Board, campus services and enterprises.

STORE

“¢bull; ASUCLA reported a successful After Hours sale. Students filled the store, sampling Muscle Milk, Pretzel Chips and Pop Chips and had the chance to engrave their cell phone cases with the UCLA logo.
“¢bull; ASUCLA’s price matching, rental and e-book textbook programs have seen more use from students compared to last year.

STUDENT UNION

“¢bull; Student Union financials are off to a better start compared to last year’s sales.
“¢bull; The Festival of Books’ move to USC will account for a possible $100,000 in missing sales, which will be partly offset by income from other areas.

FOOD

“¢bull; Low attendance at football games accounts for slow concessions sales.
“¢bull; ASUCLA is setting their sights on ways to “re-energize” the North Campus Student Center.

CONSTRUCTION

“¢bull; The dining room area in the future Court of Sciences Student Center, formerly the Bombshelter, is starting to take shape. Construction is on schedule.
“¢bull; The Global Viewpoint Lounge, located on A-level near Tsunami Sushi, will open soon.
“¢bull; ASUCLA is working on a proposal for the Graduate Student Resource Center in the Kinross Building.
“¢bull; Pauley Pavilion construction will put a damper on merchandise and food vending booths during games.
