The editorial board is composed of multiple Daily Bruin staff members and is dedicated to publishing informed opinions on issues relevant to students. The board serves as the official voice of the paper and is separate from the newsroom.

A 35-year veteran of Congress, Democrat Henry Waxman has proven to be able to stay up on the needs of the United States and his district.

Waxman has earned this board’s endorsement for U.S. Representative for California’s 30th district because of his continued effort over his career to represent the needs of students.

This district has been promised over $291 million of the federal stimulus’ $230 billion, including millions just for UCLA.

Waxman’s opponent, Republican Chuck Wilkerson, has hardly shown any consideration for progressive education policy. His rhetoric sticks to the Tea Party mantra of limited government.

Waxman has supported legislation expanding loans to college students and will no doubt continue the federal-level improvements President Barack Obama has pledged to make.

We hope that Waxman will continue to advocate for students as well as the University of California on a federal level.
