How UCLA weather forecasters help save lives

We often think of a weather forecaster as the person on TV who helps you plan your outfit for the day. While that is partially true, weather forecasters are also in the business of saving lives.

In light of Feb. 5, National Weatherperson’s Day, we spoke with staff meteorologist James Murakami and Professor Robert Fovell in UCLA’s Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Studies.
