UCPD search for man involved in sexual battery off campus

University police are looking for a man who grabbed and sexually battered a UCLA student on Sunday evening about 1 mile south of campus.

The student was walking at 9 p.m. on Wilshire Boulevard eastbound near Hotel Palomar and talking on her cellphone when a man she did not know came up from behind her, forcefully grabbed her and sexually battered her, according to a UCPD report. She turned around and saw him running toward a new silver sedan parked on Selby Avenue. He got in the car and drove away southbound on Selby Avenue.

The man is described as 30 to 40 years old, white and between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11 with an average build and spiky dirty blond or brown hair. He was wearing a blue or purple long sleeve dress shirt with white vertical stripes and khaki pants.

No further information was immediately available. The case is still under investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident or similar incidents can call UCPD at (310) 825-1491.
