Weekend Predictions: April 4-6

Every Friday The Bruin’s Sports section will predict the outcome of the weekend’s top three UCLA sporting events.

Gymnastics: UCLA in NCAA regionals: Fayetteville, Ark.
Saturday, 2 p.m.
Although the Bruins may have stumbled to a fourth-place finish in the Pac-12 championships, they are too talented for a repeat showing in NCAA regionals. Look for the No. 2 seeded UCLA team to just finish second out of six teams and advance to the NCAA championships.

Softball: UCLA v. Oregon
Friday through Sunday
The Bruins boast one of the top pitching staffs in the nation and are hitting .325 as a team. However, No. 1 UCLA figures to face its toughest competition this weekend when it travels to No. 3 Oregon, who is capable of scoring runs in bunches. UCLA won two out of three in its last conference road trip to No. 9 Washington – expect a similar outcome this weekend.

Women’s tennis: UCLA v. Stanford
Friday, 1:30 p.m.

The last time the No. 3 Bruins faced a top-six ranked team, the USC Trojans, they made quick work of their foe. UCLA’s done the same to many, many opponents this season. Expect No. 4 Stanford to put up a fight, but UCLA to come out on top.

2014 prediction record to date: 2-4
