An associate professor of finance at the UCLA Anderson School of Management will become the school’s new senior associate dean for its full-time MBA program this summer.
Mark Garmaise will take on the position in July after the current dean,Andrew Ainslie, relocates to a new position as dean at the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School.
Garmaise joined UCLA as a visiting assistant professor of finance in 2001. Since then, Garmaise has been recognized multiple times for his research and teaching, winning every teaching award given by UCLA Anderson School faculty and two teaching honors given by students: the 2009 Fully Employed MBA Teaching Excellence Award and the 2011 Full-time MBA Teaching Excellence Award.
Garmaise’s research has focused on the consequences of asymmetric information and incomplete contracting through utilizing empirical data.
