Men’s water polo goes undefeated, wins second-straight NCAA title

UCLA men’s water polo claimed its second straight NCAA title Sunday night at Spieker Aquatics Center, defeating USC 10-7 to win the school’s 113th national championship.

A repeat of last year’s NCAA final between the Trojans and the Bruins once again ended with UCLA on top, giving the host school back-to-back titles and the perfect end to a perfect 30-0 season.

Back-and-forth attacks in the first half pushed the game to a constant one-goal battle. The Bruins were able to extend their lead to two goals at halftime. The Trojans drew within one in the third quarter, but junior defender Chancellor Ramirez’s goal past Trojan goalie McQuin Baron returned the lead to two.
