After a slow start, UCLA rowing is looking to turn its season around at the Clemson Invitational at Lake Hartwell in South Carolina this weekend.

The Bruins will race two varsity eights and two varsity fours at the regatta. Each boat will compete twice on Saturday and once on Sunday.

UCLA will face several crews currently ranked in the CRCA’s latest top-20 poll, including No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 10 Michigan, No.13 Indiana, No.19 Syracuse and No. 20 Louisville.

The Bruins last faced a top-20 team when they raced against Cal at the San Diego Crew Classic. The varsity eight finished 21 seconds behind the Golden Bears, who are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation.

UCLA remains on the cusp of breaking into the rankings, but success against top-20 teams this weekend could catapult them into the top 20.
