An event was held at the Charles E. Young Research Library on Thursday to celebrate the life and works of the poet Wanda Coleman. (Hannah Burnett/Daily Bruin)


Poet Wanda Coleman’s papers will now be publicly available at the UCLA Library Special Collections. The Charles E. Young Research Library held a reception for the collection Thursday, featuring writers such as Tisa Bryant, Harryette Mullen and Austin Straus, Coleman’s husband. Coleman wrote short stories, novels, nonfiction plays and scripts for film and television. She also won an Emmy for her work onDays of Our Lives” in 1976. The Wanda Coleman Papers were processed in the Center for Primary Research and Training by Kim Calder, a doctoral candidate in the English department.
