UCLA men’s golf finished ninth at the 71st Annual Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz over the weekend. The Bruins were 36 over par for the tournament.

No. 2 USC finished right at par to take first place. Of the 15 schools that participated, eight were Pac-12 programs.

Sophomore Cole Madey and junior Corey Shaun were UCLA’s two top finishers, tying for 16th in the field of 96. At the end of three rounds, both totaled a 4-over 214.

Following round two, Shaun climbed his way up into a tie for 11th, which is the highest any Bruin made it on the leaderboard at the end of any round.

The Bruins next best scorer was Hidetoshi Yoshihara, who shot an 8-over 218. The freshman was tied with Shaun with a 1-over 71 Saturday, making the two of them UCLA’s best performers after round one.

Sophomore Patrick Murphy and junior Tyler Collier also competed over the weekend, tying for 53rd after shooting a 12-over 222. Sophomore Phil Delisi shot a 15-over 225.
